Abstract

The accelerated development of digital technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Educational Technology (EdTech), has significantly impacted English language learning by providing more innovative and interactive settings. AI-powered applications like automated writing aids, intelligent tutoring applications, speech recognition systems, and adaptive language learning platforms are possibilities to improve language learning and engage students. These technologies enable the learners to get real-time feedback, receive personalized learning, and have more flexible access to materials. This article examines the application of AI and EdTech in English language learning, considering the opportunities, challenges, and ethical issues associated with their use. The research methodology is a qualitative literature review because it examines past studies, scholarly articles, and publications on the integration of AI in language learning. The identified opportunities include individualized learning, greater accessibility, enhanced learner control, and increased student motivation. However, challenges such as the excessive use of technology, inequality in access to digital resources, and low digital literacy among teachers and students are also prevalent, alongside ethical issues like academic integrity and data privacy. Ultimately, a balanced approach is required to help educators effectively harness these tools while mitigating the associated risks.
