Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to Journal of Biomedical Psychology and Artificial Intelligence (JBPAI) must comply with the following technical and ethical requirements. Submissions that do not follow these standards may be returned to authors prior to peer review.

Language and Length

All manuscripts must be written in American English with clear academic style and consistent terminology. The maximum length of a manuscript is 15 pages, including figures, tables, and references, unless explicitly approved by the editorial office.

Template and Formatting

Authors must prepare manuscripts using the official journal template provided in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. Submissions must strictly follow the template structure, including headings, margins, font styles, and section organization.

Tables must be editable objects created within Word. Tables inserted as images are not permitted. Figures must be embedded in the manuscript and also provided as separate files when requested.

Figures and Image Quality

All figures must be high resolution and publication-ready. The minimum resolution requirement is:

  • 300 dpi for color or grayscale images

  • 600 dpi for line art and diagrams

Images must remain clear after resizing and printing. Authors are responsible for ensuring professional publication quality.

Reference Requirements

JBPAI uses the IEEE reference style. References must follow these rules:

  • A minimum of 20 references must be from peer-reviewed international journal articles published within the last 3 years

  • Books may be cited only if published within the last 5 years

  • References must include an active DOI whenever available

  • Priority should be given to reputable international publishers such as:
    ScienceDirect (Elsevier), IEEE Xplore, Emerald, Taylor & Francis, Wiley

Excessive citation of outdated or non-peer-reviewed sources is discouraged. References must be relevant, current, and academically credible.

Ethical Clearance

Research involving human participants or animals must include an ethics approval statement confirming authorization from an institutional review board or ethics committee. The manuscript must state:

  • approving institution

  • approval number (if available)

  • confirmation of informed consent (for human studies)

Submissions lacking ethical documentation will not proceed to peer review.

Statement on Generative AI

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools in manuscript preparation. AI tools may assist with language editing or formatting but cannot be credited as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the scientific integrity of the work.

The manuscript must include a disclosure specifying:

  • the AI tool used

  • the purpose of use

  • confirmation of human verification

Originality and Responsibility

All submissions must represent original work. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical authorship practices are strictly prohibited. All authors share full responsibility for the content.
